It’s a habitat for the duck and the otter.

We’re not talkin’ about a hotel,

We’re talkin’ about a marsh where wildlife dwells.

There used to be so many, you see,

Until we got greedy with agronomy,

And drained the land to grow more crops,

And that’s why a lot of the wetlands stopped.

But that ain’t it man, no that ain’t it at all,

We can’t forget about the urban sprawl.

Who cares about the geese? Who cares about the ducks?

We need another mall so we can get some more bucks.

But prairie potholes take nutrients in excess,

Transforming nitrogen, yeah, cleaning up the mess.

Then push out the water, in time, super clean,

And some of you still don’t know what we mean.

Nature makes ‘em, why do we take ‘em away,

Just so we can get more pay?

There’s gonna come a day, in fact it’s already here,

Mother Earth is making it clear.

Whether in the city or on the farmlands,
