Interesting Things Underground

There’s millions and billions and trillions and zillions of interesting things underground.
Bacteria and plants, There’s fungi and ants, And things that are yet to be found.
Some like to dig tunnels, Some chew up dead roots,
There’s green things and red things and brown things to boot…
Oh, there’s millions and billions and trillions and zillions of interesting things underground.

There’s millions and billions and trillions and zillions of interesting things in the soil.
There’s long things and short things, Some creep and some crawl things,
And some that are shaped like a coil.
Some are big like a badger, Some are smaller than small,
And some are so wee you can’t see them at all…
Oh, there’s millions and billions and trillions and zillions of interesting things in the soil.

There’s millions and billions of wonderful things going on right under our feet.
Digging and eating, Growing, competing, And this is what makes it so neat!
The earthworms and plants, The nematodes and ants, 
Build the soil so it soaks in the rain;
Keeping water for trees, tomatoes and peas,
And for farmers to grow all their grain…
Thank goodness for millions and billions and trillions and zillions of interesting things!
Though they work underground, I’m so glad they’re around,
And for all the good things they bring!
